B-120 Blast Freezer
Up to 36 times increase in product throughput
No compressors, no downtime
No CFC's
Thermal performance, reliability, and validation are key to what life scientists are searching for in any cryoprocessor. The Cryometrix B-120 provides a quantum leap forward in cryoprocessing technology. Additional management issues such as exceptional increase in product throughput resulting in floor space utilization improvements, a considerable reduction in net operating costs, significant reduction in electrical power use, dramatic increase in tool uptime and the elimination of CFCs have become the governing principles of laboratory managers.
With up to 90% less electrical consumption, the B-120 reduces annual electrical use by over 34,000 kilowatts per unit, per year at a setpoint of -86°C through efficient design, the elimination of refrigeration compressors, and the required HVAC component. Tool availability, the B-120 is in a league of its own through the use of Contained Liquid Delivery (CoLD©) technologies which eliminate all compressors and failure prone components. The required maintenance requirements are reduced significantly per installed unit. With the B-120, what used to be a staff of repair techs is now 1 service/PM tech, no matter the size of the facility.
The Cryometrix B-120 Blast Freezer delivers on all points. The B-120 cryoprocessor is a technological breakthrough that incorporates a compressor-free, redundant, liquid nitrogen-based technology. The B-120 is a stable, scalable, adaptable, and validatable platform. The payload capacity is 21.25 ft3 (600 L = 30,000 2-mL vials), and with its all-stainless steel upright payload design, the B-120 addresses several user issues such as security, ease of operation, cleaning, and the system is designed to eliminate the freezing bottleneck in biopharma production.
Performance
Cryoprocessing starts with thermal performance, and adaptability is a close second. The B-120 accomplishes both through the use of CoLD® technologies, which yield a 36X increase in product throughput. In-situ thermal mapping provides for extremely accurate thermal processing without compromising performance of either process or machine. A CISS® technology inventory system allows users to adapt the B-120 to any product container, bag, or process device.
Thermal stability during a ramp to setpoint is key for sensitive sample survival. Degradation of vials due to rapid thermal shock, or protein sublimation is prevented using the programmable control of the B-120. With the T-150 ULT Freezer, the matriarch of the product line, having over 1 million field operational hours, the B-120 has a MTBF (mean time between failures) of three years, with the only preventative maintenance being the calibration of temperature and pressure sensors, all of which can be completed while the cryoprocessor is in operation.
